eterna is an open publishing platform for journals. It is operated by the University Library Basel. All publications on eterna are Open Access, i.e. freely accessible and reusable. The platform is available in particular to publishers who are affiliated with the University of Basel. The platform is based on Open Journal Systems (OJS), a free web-based software for publishing and managing electronic journals. OJS does not only enable the hosting of journals. The software also provides the ability to manage the entire publication process, from submission to peer review.
For the publication of ebooks and for the secondary publication of digital publications, other publication platforms of the University Library Basel are more suitable. For the publication of open access monographs and anthologies, the emono open publishing platform is available. The edoc repository is available for secondary publishing of digital publications. The upload for edoc takes place via the UNIverse Research Information System of the University of Basel.
